Nelson Victor Carter

Nelson Victor Carter VC was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Carter was born onApril 1887 to Richard Carter, of Hailsham husband of Kathleen Carter, ofGreys Road, Old Town, Eastbourne. His date of birth is often stated as the ninth, but his birth certificate states the sixth.
